Shabbat Shalom 7/20/13 (Va’etchanan/And I Pleaded)

Shalom mishpachah veh chaverim!

Our Torah portion this week Va’etchanan (And I pleaded), comes from D’varim/Deuteronomy3:23 – 7:11. Chapter 4 begins “. . . listen to the laws and rulings I am teaching you, in order to follow them, so you will live; then you will go in and take possession of the land Yehovah, the God of your fathers, is giving you.” (D’varim/Deuteronomy 4:1). After I read through our Parashah, I was curious about the number of times these words or words similar to them were repeated. I counted no less than ten times in this Parashah alone and perhaps I overlooked some. Those are . . .

Chapter 4:1; Chapter 4:5; Chapter 4:14; Chapter 4:40; Chapter 5:28 (31);
Chapter 5: 30 (33); Chapter 6:1; Chapter 6:3; Chapter 6:17-18; Chapter 7:11

Even with all His encouragement, it was still difficult for (Ahm Is-rah-el) Am Isra’el ~ People of Israel to grasp hold of the fact Yehovah was GIVING them The Land. Quite honestly, it’s no different with us today. The Almighty has given us SO many promises and He even reminds us of them on a daily basis through His Torah and yet, we are challenged to trust and obey, to walk in faith and not fear.

Let us strive to SHEMA each and every day . . . living out Abba’s many promises to us.

Ahavah veh tefilot (love and prayers), Batyah

Mercy Removed

On Friday, 7-19, a statement was made which went something like this: When everything is over and done, he wants to have found favor in Yeshua’s sight to be able to walk into His Throne room , to see Him face-to-face and say, “Thank You for all You have done”! It made me think of a song we used to sing, “If Jesus (Yeshua) would lift His mercy (Spirit or Presence) from me”. It came to me that if Yeshua would lift His mercy from me, where would I go, what would I be? If I no longer could follow the Cloud (this Cloud is the power of Yehovah, it is the same cloud the Children of Israel followed by day and the Pillar of fire by night). What would my destiny be (I would not have a future). Here are some scriptures which helped me . . .

Psalm 51:11 “Do not cast (to throw away with force, hurl) me away from Your Presence (Spirit), do not take Your Holy anointing from me”.

Psalm 51:12 “Restore (give back to my former state) to me the joy of Your salvation (give me the joy of loving and knowing You, let me return to my first love) and sustain (to endure, withstand) me with a willing spirit.”

Psalm 46:10 “Cease (to end or stop) striving (make a great effort, trying very hard) and know I am Yehovah God.” I just need to stop what I am doing and KNOW Yehovah is God.

Psalm 63:3 Your loving kindness is better than life (if we did not have Yehovah’s loving kindness, we would not have life.)

The only way Yehovah will lift His spirit is the following scripture. Deuteronomy 4:25: Act corruptly (say you are a child of God but do everything against Him and His instructions), make idols in form of everything and do what is evil in sight of Yehovah God so as to provoke (to make mad or anger). You have just done what it takes to have Yehovah lift his mercy fromyour life.

Here are some more scriptures to look at and take to heart. Deuteronomy 4:29, 31, 39 and 40. All of these promises are given to the children of Yehovah, who strive to love and keep His commandments (instructions).

Heed this warning, if you do not follow Yehovah’s law (Torah) and stay on the road you are traveling, you will see Deuteronomy 4:25 first hand.

In closing, this is my prayer: That I will find favor in Yehovah’s sight and be able to endure to the end so I can walk into His throne room and in humble adoration boy and tell him, Thank You !!!
