A working knowledge of the biblical calendar gives serious students of the Word things to contemplate.
Built into the fabric of Creation before mankind exsisted, certain dates stand out with lessons that transcend the ages.
Primarily in the bible there is a Creation calendar which is used from Genesis 1 to Exodus 12:2.
At the Exodus, a Ceremonial calendar is instituted, by which the months are counted with specific events God details for worship and service.
(The years are counted beginning with Tishri 1, the head of the year, but the months are counted by Aviv/Nissan 1. the beginning of the months)
As we overlay these two calendars we find events and dates that overlap. In this respect we can establish a pattern of events which can, and have many times in the past, been or can be, repeated in lesser or greater forms, proven both biblically and historically.
This week we find two important dates from which we can draw lessons in life.
This coming week there are two days in particular to pay attention to.
Beginning Wednesday night into Thursday October 21, this is recorded in 1Kng 12:31-33, the initiation of a false Sukkot/Tabernacles by Jeroboam, the rebellious leader of ten breakaway tribes. The story of which is found in 1Kng.11:41-12:33.
The major sin found here is the rejection of Jerusalem as the center of worship, and reprobate leadership eventually leading to idolatry and enslavement to Assyrian forces.
The pattern remains the same, it is a time when people are beguiled, divisions occur, false ceremonies take place, and a splintered nation goes into a steeper decline.
What Rehoboam did was bad, what Jereboam did was worse. By decite Jereboam stole the minds of people.
The second date is Oct.23, the anniversary of Noah’s flood (Gen.7:11).
It is a time when judgment comes upon the Earth for the wickedness of mankind.
In Noah’s day powerful men controlled society with tentacles of power that corrupted every aspect of mankind.
It is a day when unusually powerful weather events have happened in the past.
Beginning Friday evening into Saturday it is an evening when it is wise to stick close to home in my opinion. God is unchanging, and in the words of Yeshua, “as in the days of Noah”…
Who knows what has the potential to develop this week since everything the Scriptures foreshadow concerning both days is going on in our world today.
